    Program Overview
    This one-year fellowship program aims to provide in-depth clinical and academic training in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care of children with cancer. The curriculum integrates foundational knowledge, evidence-based practice, and hands-on experience in managing hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, supportive care, and survivorship issues.


    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Basics of Pediatric Oncology

    • Principles of oncology and pediatric tumor biology

    • Differences between adult and pediatric cancers

    • Multidisciplinary approach in pediatric oncology care

    • Cancer epidemiology and risk factors in children

    Module 2: Hematologic Malignancies – Leukemia and Lymphoma

    • Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL): Diagnosis and protocols

    • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and mixed phenotypic leukemias

    • Non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphoma management

    • Bone marrow aspiration and flow cytometry

    Module 3: Solid Tumors in Children

    • Wilms tumor and neuroblastoma

    • Rhabdomyosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma

    • Hepatoblastoma and germ cell tumors

    • Imaging, biopsy, and staging systems

    Module 4: Central Nervous System Tumors

    • Medulloblastoma, gliomas, and ependymomas

    • Surgical, radiological, and chemotherapeutic approaches

    • Neuro-oncology emergencies and postoperative care

    • Neurocognitive outcomes and rehabilitation

    Module 5: Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT)

    • Indications for autologous and allogeneic BMT

    • Pre-transplant conditioning and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD)

    • Post-transplant infections and immunosuppression

    • Long-term follow-up and quality of life

    Module 6: Chemotherapy and Targeted Therapies

    • Chemotherapeutic agents and administration protocols

    • Toxicities and supportive care strategies

    • Targeted therapies, monoclonal antibodies, and TKIs

    • CAR-T cell therapy and immuno-oncology

    Module 7: Radiation Oncology in Pediatrics

    • Indications, techniques, and side effects

    • Craniospinal irradiation and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)

    • Radiation emergencies and mitigation

    • Long-term sequelae and secondary cancers

    Module 8: Supportive Care and Symptom Management

    • Febrile neutropenia and antimicrobial stewardship

    • Pain management and palliative interventions

    • Nutritional support and transfusion medicine

    • Psychosocial care for patients and families

    Module 9: Oncologic Emergencies in Children

    • Tumor lysis syndrome and hyperleukocytosis

    • Spinal cord compression and superior vena cava syndrome

    • Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)

    • Acute airway or renal compromise due to tumors

    Module 10: Survivorship and Long-Term Follow-up

    • Monitoring late effects of chemotherapy and radiation

    • Endocrinopathies, cardiotoxicity, and fertility preservation

    • School re-entry, psychological adaptation, and rehabilitation

    • Vaccination and infection risk management

    Module 11: Pediatric Oncology Research and Clinical Trials

    • Designing and conducting clinical studies in children

    • Understanding protocols (e.g., COG, SIOP, etc.)

    • Ethical considerations in pediatric oncology trials

    • Role of tumor registries and biobanking

    Module 12: Ethics, Communication, and End-of-Life Care

    • Breaking bad news and counseling families

    • Ethical dilemmas in pediatric cancer care

    • End-of-life decision-making and hospice care

    Clinical Training and Hands-On Experience

    • Rotations in pediatric oncology wards and daycare units

    • Chemotherapy administration, lumbar puncture, and bone marrow procedures

    • Tumor board participation and multi-disciplinary case reviews

    • Exposure to BMT units and pediatric palliative care clinics


    Assessment and Certification

    • Monthly MCQs and case-based evaluations
